Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy focuses on the connection between the mind and the body. It recognizes that stress, trauma, and emotional experiences are often stored in the nervous system, not just in thoughts, and works with physical sensations as part of the therapeutic process.
What this approach focuses on
Somatic Therapy helps increase awareness of bodily sensations, movement, and nervous system responses. Rather than focusing only on talking through experiences, this approach supports noticing how emotions and stress show up physically and learning ways to gently regulate the body. Sessions may involve grounding, breath, movement, or tracking sensations to support a sense of safety and stability.
How it can support you
Somatic Therapy can support emotional regulation, reduce chronic stress, and help the body move out of patterns of tension or overwhelm. By working with the nervous system directly, this approach can make change feel more integrated and sustainable, especially when talking alone hasn’t been enough.
