Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), often referred to as "Tapping," is a mind-body method that combines elements of cognitive therapy with acupressure. By tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on a distressing issue, EFT aims to calm the nervous system and restore emotional balance.

What this approach focuses on

EFT is grounded in the principle that emotional distress is caused by disruptions in the body's energy system. This approach focuses on the physical sensation of stress as much as the mental thought process. During a session, you "tune in" to a specific problem—a memory, a fear, or a physical pain—and use your fingertips to tap on key points (such as the eyebrow, side of the eye, and collarbone). This process is designed to signal the amygdala (the brain's fear center) to deactivate, allowing you to process difficult emotions without a high-stress physiological response.

How it can support you

EFT can support you by providing a literal "on-the-go" tool for self-regulation. It is particularly effective for reducing the intensity of phobias, anxiety, and physical tension. By lowering cortisol levels, it helps shift the body from a "fight or flight" state into a state of safety, making it easier to work through traumatic memories or daily stressors with more clarity and less overwhelm.
